Collectible Dolls: Passing Down Memories from Generation to Generation

Baby 1For many mothers, the dream of passing down collectible dolls to their daughter is important. Any time we pass down items from our childhood, we are handing over memories that were created long ago and giving them to future generations. We all know that when we see something from our childhood, it brings back memories like nothing else. Maybe it is the tricycle you rode around on when you were three or maybe it is the tattered teddy bear that kept you safe and warm every night as a child. No matter what, these memories are important. However, it is the passing down of the memories that keep them alive for future generations.

When we talk about collectible dolls, we could be talking about all different kinds of things. From porcelain dolls to Madame Alexander to Barbie dolls, there are so many different varieties of dolls that can be passed down. The most important thing is the meaning behind the dolls.

Many little girls collect baby dolls that they treat like a real child. They dress them up and play with them, but they are not normally considered collectible dolls because they get quite battered and worn over the years. Most people would consider collectible dolls to be the ones that are kept in the original box without any chance of getting dusty. Or maybe they are the ones that are inside of glass cases watching the world go by.

The best way to know if a doll is collectible is simple: Do not worry about what the world of doll collectors says. What is really important is what you and your little girl find to be interesting. If you want to college Barbie dolls or Raggedy Ann dolls, it does not matter. Just start your collection now and future generations will be so grateful!
